OK, now for some more in depth information.
What does OnlineCPD.org do?
OnlineCPD.org provides lectures- Online CPD. That's it. We don't do anything else. We want to make CPD as easy, convenient, enjoyable and as beneficial as possible. So we don't want to divide our attention by doing other things. Oh, and there will never be whizzy, flashy animated ads on the lecture pages to distract you.
When you watch your Online CPD lectures we give you a set of reflective questions to download and fill in for your CPD records, and when you've completed your lectures you can take a quiz, if you like, and we send you an attendance certificate through the post. We keep full records of who has seen what so that the governing bodies can check with us to confirm your Online CPD.
You can get up to 15 hours of your required 30 hours of CPD each year with OnlineCPD.org.
We do have terms and conditions, and although it's always tedious, it is worth reading through them.
How does OnlineCPD.org do it?
We go out to lecturers and conventions and film lectures, both with and without audiences, then edit them, adapt the slideshows for the internet, put it altogether and then stream it to your computer over the web. We can stream it anywhere in the world.
When you're watching, you can skip forwards and backwards, you can start again, you can watch some now and some later, you can pause the lecture and nip off to refill your cup (or glass).
We've put together a demonstration for you, there's a link at the bottom of the page. Then you'll want to know how to get started.
Technical Stuff and Recommendations.
You don't need any technical knowledge to get Online CPD lectures from us. If you can use the internet - and lets face it, you're reading this so that's probably a reasonable assumption - then you'll be fine. Just sit back and let the internet pixies do their thing.
Our pixies are happy for you to use any operating system - Mac OS X, Linux Ubuntu, they can even get Windows to work! Any browser, too. What you must have, though, is QuickTime. Luckily, unless your computer was one of the ones Noah counted his animals on, it already has it. If you want a free update to the latest version (which is always a good idea) you can do that here.
The very best combination for our pixies is the Safari browser with the QuickTime plugin. You can get that for Mac or Windows here and our pixies can settle down with a nice acorn-cup of TinkerbellTea, because there'll be nothing for them to do.
Your internet connection speed is important. If you have broadband, you can use OnlineCPD.org. Even if it is a slow 1MB. We have a low bandwidth version of each lecture, so if you get any stalling, you can switch to that. Each lecture stream only uses up about 300MB of your ISP's monthly allowance.
So, here's the Online CPD demo.
